Five projects get condensed into a single symphony of how beauty fades when it is remembered and no longer felt. A four-year obssession with a woman glimpsed on a street turns into poisonous indifference. A glamorous beauty tries to admit emptiness but cannot, and keeps pretending to look for depth even though she cannot take her eyes off the mirror. Boys raised as girls in a tiny Mexican town unveil themselves to the world, and find they are shadowed by the glitz and glimmer of Hollywood. Gorillas cling to a mountaintop, already dead and gone, stuffed for the zoo and barely remembered. And a search for the aurora borealis takes us out of this world into a land wrecked by profit.
